The challenge with making good alternate color schemes like the faded 60's video or proper black and white is they require some careful grading so that you don't just blow out the contrast. Something I'd like to do in a game is transpose an early color TV aesthetic with something completely anachronistic-- have a medieval game where you're a part of a mercenary band where the color/contrast treatment makes it look like it were documenting vietnam war footage. Not sure to what end, but I'd really like to try something like this.
