You may very well not care for the song but this music video is visually really interesting, especially the 2D animation on the Bouncer character

Some gifs of what I'm talking about for people who don't want to watch the video

Dear god. I think I peed a little. If a game looked like that I would buy it even if it was terrible.

[EDIT]: But hey, since we're on the subject of beautiful animation...

this is all the way down the rabbit hole into classic scifi mags (OMNI, Metal Hurlant and others) of a certain age. Blows my mind to look at this stuff

Maybe I missed it but I looked through this thread and didn't find http://conceptships.blogspot.com/ anywhere. All spaceships all the time. Also links to concept tanks, cars, vehicles, robots, etc. There's a lot of great stuff in here

I can draw half decent lineart myself but some of the stuff on these sites just blows me away.

I love almost everything about the Style of Deus Ex HR, the only thing I don't like about this picture is Adam's "cool" hair and beard. From the neck down he is a BAMF, from the neck up he fronts a radio friendly rock band.

Oh yeah, some of the later "heavy" enemies wear ridiculous and impractical armour, but apart from that it's all good.

The artstyle is really simplified, since this is anime. Original drawings by Tove Jansson are actually a lot better.
Posting this video, because it's awesome.
Welcome to Moominvalley.

Is that the Super Castlevania whip sound at roughly 40 seconds in that Moomin video?

Took in another Kar Wai Wong film I hadn't seen--In the Mood for Love (available on Instant Streaming on Netflix). Absolutely stunning film visually and emotionally. Hong Kong in the early 60's. Awesome

there needs to be more kar-wai-wong influence in games. copy him more, plz.
(ie. throw out plot, and focus on story and tone. I think his formula could work wonders in games. see: Gravity Bone/Thirty Flights of Loving)

no shame in bumping old threads, and especially not for some excellent kar wai wong stills. agreed on all accounts. set story gets flummoxed so easily by that pesky old player input--but why fight it? the idea of a game structured like a kar wai wong improvised film--it rolls with the player, rather than stymie them--is wonderful food for thought.
