Is Spelunky any good or what? I need a Binding of Isaac killer in my life and Rogue Legacy didn't scratch that itch.

oh my gosh Spelunky is the greatest. I've been playing Nuclear Throne, and that's closer to Binding of Isaac but way more arcade-y... Spelunky cannot be recommended enough though, really.

Dark Souls is on sale, so I bought an extra copy. Also got The Walking Dead, which will make a good xmas gift for a non-gamer.

You can now tear up your own old clothes into rags and bandage yourself (and others) with them.
Also zombies can now see flashlights.
Weapons deteriorate (as does everything)
Water is king. Without water you die. Eating food costs you water too. I've found many a corpse of an adventurer with food, weapons, tools, but no water. Many die from dehydration.
Haven't been killed by other players yet, just starved or parched to deat. Very alpha. Very ruthless. So many things left to chance.

Valkyria Chronicles is an awesome steampunk wwI 3rd-person x-com that is buried under pointed chins, unskippable cutscenes, and anime horseshit. It would be a great game if it ever let you play.

From that description, I remember I downloaded the demo of Valkyria Chronicles and hated it because of the anime bullshit.

I remember hating it for it not making up it's mind if it was a shooter or if it was a turn-based tactics game.
No wait, I hated it for the controls, that's why. Playstation controls were bullshit.

I'm 3 chapters into Valkyria Chronicles and I'm not understanding the "anime bullshit" complaints.

The protagonist is neither angst-ridden or stupid, perhaps a little overly-idealistic, but he'll still run over nazis in his tank.

The primary love interest is not a blushing school girl, but a competent baker-turned-soldier, who's fairly reasonable and not irritating unlike most obvious love interests.

Even the TOTALLY NOT BLOOD RELATED sister is portrayed in a fairly non-creepy way and has her own issues to deal with as an obvious jewish fill-in.

I'm not saying the writing is fantastic, in fact the dialogue is laughably bad in how cheesy/corny it is, but frankly you could say the same about Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid. Cheesy dialogue is practically a staple in Japanese games.

The cutscenes are pretty long, but so are the cutscenes in RE and MGS. And in the PC version at least, you can skip them.

So really, it's just complaints about the anime art style, I guess? Although, I don't know why that would be considered such a big minus since the gameplay is more than unique and enjoyable enough.

It took me 6 years to get over the shitty armour designs of Gears of war and actually play it. Art style is more than enough to stop me playing a game.
I really don't like typical anime style.

Gears had _really_ good environment art and direction though. Beautiful everything. Maybe not very logical, but idk and idc

Jet Set Radio is free right now on steam. Go to their steam store page (don't click purchase), and click the Install Game button and you'll get given the "Make War Not Love" bundle (which includes Hell Yeah! and a bunch of other Sega classics stuff).
