It just comes down to time. I am making headway with Unrealscript, but so agonizingly slowly compared to virtually everything else about game development, it is time to start looking for help. I am looking for someone with a strong grasp of Unrealscript, with other coding background as well preferably. The position will be paid, but will likely be more of a stipend, with full payment backloaded with profits from the game once it is finished, since I'm not making any money right now either.

I know there's a pretty small pool of people that read this board but your recommendations/referrals are going to be higher on my list than Joe Internet stumbling into my email inbox. So anyone you think might be right for the job, please let them know and email me at jack.h.monahan at gmail. Let's get this thing moving.

In case you haven't found anyone yet -- if you weren't married to UDK, and switched to Unity3D, I could do basic gameplay prototyping / code for you starting in November-ish. And I'd probably force my game dev partner to do a bit of work on it too, since he's a better coder and stuff.

(just throwing it out here)

this does place my marriage to UDK into question, yes. it's a generous offer, so I'll give it a serious thought.

or, prototype in Unity3D, then once you have the game systems done you can put out the Unity3D prototype and attract a coder for a high fidelity UDK version

and asset importing in Unity3D is quite literally a dream, you just drop your .PSD .FBX .MB or .MAX file in \project\Assets\ and it does everything -- creates default materials, chops up animations into smaller animation clips, imports textures if they're in \Assets\ too, etc. it's really marvelous

I actually want to back the unity idea. I mean it's got a beautiful committed community, and they all contribute to the evolution of the engine. I mean all the unity tech demos look like doom 3, but the users have added so many plugins that one could make something battlefield 3 caliber.

The only problem is that afaik, skinned animations are all done on the cpu instead of the gpu like most engines would now, so lots of characters on the screen could get real slow. They recently updated, and idk if that's still the case.
