you should be following me on twitter because this would already be old news if you had!

so i don't really have a rig to present on, and the game itself is still pretty early yet. so the current strategy is to have a suite of a few new concepts, some of the best of the old material, and a brand spanking new teaser trailer to show people on my ipod. and don't worry, there won't be any kind of weird in-person exclusivity, it'll be up on youtube before i get to SF. (but you do get special cheevos seeing it in person).

i like to edit things working from sound, so trying to come up with an angle on the trailer, i did the sound first. this is what the preliminary mix sounds like, if you're curious:

more soon.

I like it.

At first it draws you in and throughout keeps you on the edge of your seat as it rises and rises and in the end you exhale and feel like you should be witnessing something exhilarating.

Technically I do, but I rarely actually read Twitter. Music's Pretty rad, though. Really set me up emotionally for the Donger thread.

So you're going to be wandering around the show floor hassling the folks over at SpeedTree?

Radiator: you of course have tickets to the Venus Patrol party, right? It's going to be such a scene, man

coming along, coming along. these piers took quite a bit longer than expected. but once i get vertex painting/material blending in they'll be quite a bit more sprucey.

i am still working on that, but a little bit of everything, i think. one of the main ones is oil, or was oil, because there's no need to make up a commodity that drives things as much as oil (THE SPICE MUST FLOW).
one of the pipes used to/may still dispense some kind of nutrient slurry, since i have discovered that the world this takes place on has a very dead eco system.

the artificial lifeline/supply line that happens with the huge pipeline going everywhere also contributes to the cargo cult-like aspects of the seppo society.

That is just the right kind of creepy. It's if The Besnard Lakes and The Paper Chase had sex with my eyeballs and made some kind of mutant synesthesia baby. Something looks a little off (in the wrong way) about that gross fog, though. Like it's too linear or something. Gross fog in a creepy land of this caliber should roll around. Lumpy-style.

I guess that's what we should expect from a hyper-industrial aqueduct. Props for actually using oil instead of derpy transperent-allegory/totally-not-oil. The nutrient slurry is a nice touch. Makes me wonder who's still feeding these people, and why.

dudeglove, you have a very strong alternate career path opportunity as an art director.

ok it's up :)

had to re-encode it otherwise it would have been up yesterday; lot of trouble getting the video encoded properly.

PLEASE watch in 1080, hard to make out the distant detail otherwise.

You get praise from me, but I gotta say that tilt up at the end feels weird. Too fast probably, breaks the flow. Make it either faster and blurrier to emphasize the grandness or slower like the rest to maintain pace. Though it's probably too late now.

It's really just that camera turn (pan? tilt? I'm forgetting all my fancy camera words) upward at the end. Too fast and mechanical. You were really working the creepy anticipation well until then, though. I would have been on the edge of my seat, had I not been sitting on a ball.

The end tilt was too fast. Other then that it was good. Loving the look.

Awesome trailer, except I couldn't help but notice you haven't kept it in line with modern trailer trends. Fixed here (Oh god I am so sorry!)
